TV show reveals ‘truth’ of 6in skeleton found in desert

For ten years the remains of a six-inch "space alien" discovered in Chile's Atacama Desert have been hailed as evidence of alien life.

But the remains - known as the 'Atacama Humanoid' and nicknamed Ata - have now been confirmed by scientists to be human.

Theories had included that the bones were those of an aborted foetus, or a monkey, an alien that had crash-landed on earth or even a complete hoax.

But a new documentary called Sirius - shown in Hollywood on Monday - revealed that DNA tests had been made - and revealed the truth about the mystery figure.

Dr Steven Greer - who led the project and documentary - has hit back at critics who claim the body is a hoax.

He said: "'The CAT scan clearly shows internal chest organs - lungs and what appears to be the remains of a heart structure."

"There is absolutely no doubt that the specimen is an actual organism and that it is not a hoax of any kind.

"This fact has been confirmed by Dr.Nolan and Dr.Lachman at Stanford."
UFO enthusiasts had become increasingly excited in the lead-up to the release of the film- thinking it would reveal a major breakthrough in the hunt for alien life.

Experts say the small skeleton is very similar to what people believe aliens look like.

Chilean media reported that "Ata" was found by a man called Oscar Munoz in 2003 in La Noria, a ghost town in the Atacama Desert.

Munoz said he found a white cloth containing "a strange skeleton no bigger than 15cm" near an abandoned church.
